Fls (4)5-12-merous; cal-tube short, the lobes narrow and elongate; cor rotate, the tube very short, the spreading lobes oblanceolate to obovate or elliptic; stamens at the summit of the cor-tube, the linear anthers recurved or circinately coiled after anthesis; style elongate, 2-lobed or -cleft; capsule long-enclosed in the marcescent cor, eventually 2-valved; herbs with linear to ovate, often sessile lvs and commonly numerous handsome, rose or lilac to white fls in a loose terminal cyme. 17, N.
