CANOTIA (2005)
PLANT: Compact, matted perennial with many decumbent to erect stems; stems 2-5(8) mm long, the internodes obscured by the leaves. LEAVES: subulate, grayish green, the margins and midrib thick, densely short hirsute to woolly below, 5-10(-12) mm long, 1-2 mm wide. INFLORESCENCE: flowers solitary, sessile. FLOWERS: calyx 7-10 mm long, the membrane flat, the lobe margins short hirsute; corolla white to lavender, the tube 8-12 mm long, the lobes 5-6 mm long, obtuse; stamens inserted on the upper tube; stigmas located below most of the stamens. NOTES: Open, sandy to rocky sites, coniferous woodland: Mohave Co.; 1200-1300 m (4000-4200 ft); Apr-May; s NV to sw UT. REFERENCES: Dieter H. Wilken and J.
