Vascular plants of NE US and adjacent Canada
Hypanthium obconic, its mouth contracted by a conspicuous disk; sep triangular; bractlets usually wanting; pet yellow; stamens numerous, the slender filaments erect and persistent; carpels 2-6, free and distinct, inserted on a hairy receptacle, enclosed by the hypanthium except for the elongate, terminal, protruding, deciduous styles; ovule 1, basal; fr an achene; perennial rhizomatous herbs with the aspect of Fragaria, having 3-foliolate basal lvs and a naked or bracteate peduncle bearing a cyme of small fls. 6, N.
