Habitat: Rolling terrain of the Clarissa drumlin plain ... in tamarack swamp dominated by patchy to fairly denses canopy of Larix laricina. Patchy understory of Alnus incana, U. americana, and Betula papyrifera. Moist peat. Partial to full shade. Associated species include Caltha palustris, Lycopus uniflorus, Thelypteris palustris, Smilacina trifolia, Rubus pubescens, Calla pallustris, Aster puniceus, Lonicera villosa, Phalaris arundinacea.
