Habitat:
Disturbed sandy loam. Degraded mesic sand hill prairie, with Andropogon gerardi, Carex spp., Cornus racemosa, Echinacea pallida, Helianthus hirsutus, Monarda fistulosa, Poa pratensis, Prunus serotina, Rhus glabra, Silphium integrifolium, Solidago canadensis, Tradescantia ohiense. Sheaths pale (chalky); occasional bunched perennial, culm base generally slightly curved, soft; spikes immature. Partial shade, prairie margin.
