Fen curves around east and south portions of the lake. Many "No Trespassing" signs posted. Mostly herbaceous Cyperaceae with shrubs on borders. Actively maintained by The Nature Conservancy. Fay Lake Road borders on east and south side fo fen. 75m from road through a woody/shrubby wet area. About 50m from open water. Definite transition zone from lake to fen. Dominated by Carex and Cyperaceae. Hummocky in open water. 50% of immediate area is mud flat.
Perigynia - flat, no predominant teeth at top, brown/black styles.
