The fen is less than 30 acres surrounding the lake. There are shruby patches of Cornus, Toxicodendron vernix, birch, and aspen, and large patches of Typha and Phragmites. There are many streams 1m wide, one larger one on the north side of the stream. Evidence of maintenence with burn piles and woody cuttings. Less than 10m from northwest border of fen. Shrubby with Carex and Asteraceae ground cover. Downed wood (natural) and brush piles and spots where piles burned nearby. Shrubs are Toxicodendron vernix and Cornus.
Flower - no flowers in bloom, but what could see: 5 sepals-green turning pinkish, bristly.Fruit - not ripe, currently green with hairs.Population - common, clumped, 1-3 per 1m2.
