U.S.A., Wyoming, Albany, Ca 6 miles south, 30 miles west of Glendo. (Glendo in Platte Co.) Medicine Bow National Forest: Laramie Mountains: La Bonte Canyon: vicinity of Curtis Gulch Campground. (From end of WY Hwy 91: 3.0 road miles south to jct of Co Rd 24 [=Cold Spring Rd] and Co Rd 16 [=Old Ft Fetterman Rd], 12.85 road miles on Co Rd 16 to La Bonte Rd [=FSR 658], then 3.45 road miles to site.).

On steep, rocky south and southwest facing slopes above confluence of Curtis Gulch and La Bonte Creek. Tall granite cliffs at top of slope with abundant boulders on slopes below; coarse sandy soil. Montane Juniperus scopulorum-Pinus flexilis-Pinus ponderosa-Pseudotsuga menziesii forest with shrubby understory dominated by Artemisia tridentata, Juniperus communis, Physocarpus monogynus, Populus tremuloides and Purshia tridentata, and along creek by Acer glabrum, Comus sericea, Prunus virginiana and Rosa nutkana.
