Habitat:
Bosque de encino. Grazed, rocky, E facing slopes on SE end of Sierra Prieta, woodland of Quercus, Arctostaphylos, with Pinus teocote f. macrocarpa and Pseudotsuga menziesii present only above 2900 m. on the highest ridges in the area.

Description:
Multi-stemmed shrubs, some are low and rounded, ca. 1 m. tall, others up to 3 m. tall. Bark smooth, dark reddish.
Notes:
Abundant shrub on entire slope.
