Locality: United States, California, San Bernardino County, Southeast Castle Mountains; along NN115 0.1 mile from junction with NN110. Southeast of Hart and mine.

Elevation: 1299 meters (4261ft)
Habitat: Side of rolling hill, flats at base of hill, and wash. Hillside slope ca. 20 degrees, facing west. Soil of sand, cobble, and some duff. Hillside mostly mid-Miocene rhyolite tuff, flows, and intrusive rocks; top of hill is late Miocene gravel deposits; wash is Quaternary alluvium. Joshua tree woodland and creosote bush scrub. Occasional on hillside, frequent in wash.
Associated Species: Xylorhiza tortifolia, Tetradymia, Ephedra, Hilaria rigida, Eriogonum fasciculatum, Yucca brevifolia, Y. schidigera, Y. baccata, Larrea tridentata, Coleogyne ramosissima, Cylindropuntia acanthocarpa, Opuntia polyacantha, Acamptopappus sphaerocephalus, Echinocactus polycephalus, Ericameria cooperi, fritillary butterfly, Krascheninnikovia lanata, Echinocereus engelmannii, Scutellaria mexicana, Senegalia greggii, Ambrosia salsola, etc.
