Soil: gray course sand. Ringed by a pinyon/juniper woodland. Pinus edulis, Juniperus osteosperma, Artemisia tridentata, Salsola kali, Helianthus annus, Nicotana amenuata, Cleome lutea, Chenopodium, Hesperostipa comata.
