Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Small opening in shrub thicket; less shrub encroached than natural prairie fen transition zone given the shrub species (Toxicodendron vernix, Cornus sericea). Other common species in include Pycnanthemum virginicum, Symphyotrichum firmum, Eutrochium maculatum, Thelypteris palustris. Just west of corn field. Ground wet but not inundated.
