Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Small opening among large Larix laricina trees in middle portion of prairie fen. Shrub encroachment by Fragnula alnus, Cornus foemina. Toxicodendron vernix, Dasiphora fruticosa also common in area. Other common species include Eutrochium maculatum, Doellingeria umbellata, Thelypteris palustris. Ground wet but not inundated.
