Large fen with high quality portions on eastern edge. Beautiful large Larix laricina trees shelter very diverse ribbons of fen. Large west portion is dominated by weedy species including Agrostis gigantea. Phalaris arundinacea dominates the fen/woodland interfaces. Bordered on north by creek and on south by woodland upland. Sedge meadow in southwester portion of prairie fen; large shrub islands in area that include mostly Toxicodendron vernix but also some Ulmus americana trees and Populus tremuloides trees; Carex stricta is the most common sedge; other species in area include Apios americana, Eutrochium maculatum, Thelypteris palustris, Pedicularis lanceolata, and Galium asprellum; ground moist but not wet; many gam trails in area resulting in flatted vegetation
