Lake side prairie fen. Mostly Cyperaceae, Cornus, and button bush dominated marl zone with some Asteraceae and Dasiphora fruticosa near the wooded borders. Invaded by Phragmites, Phalaris arundinacea, and Frangula alnus. In large northern section of fen, 5m east of Little Portage Lake, 100m north of wooded upland, near Salix, Cornus, and button bush area. Area dominated by Cyperaceae, button bush, and Phalaris arundinacea. Ground level and wet. Soil dark to coppery colored.
Population - Abundant, but not dominant area. Both young stalks and stalks with spent fruit. Less than 2m tall.
