Lake side prairie fen. Mostly Cyperaceae, Cornus, and button bush dominated marl zone with some Asteraceae and Dasiphora fruticosa near the wooded borders. Invaded by Phragmites, Phalaris arundinacea, and Frangula alnus. In northern part of southern section of fen, 250m south of the channel between the lakes, 10m east of Little Portage Lake. Quadrat in small slightly higher/drier shrub zone surrounded by Cyperaceae inundated marl flat. Shrub zone dominated by Cornus with some Sambucus canadensis, and Spiraea alba. Groundcover is Schoenoplectus, Carex, and Lythrum salicaria. Ground moist with layer of dark dead vegetation on top on grey marl.
