Clint Pogue CP143
United States, Michigan, Hillsdale, Little Goose Creek Grasslands
304 meters (997ft)
Mostly open prairie fen with strong prairie component. Bisected by Little Goose Creek. Some large swaths of Frangula alnus being treated by Michigan Nature Association. Weedy areas develop further downstream where fen narrows. Highly variable in regards to health of fen with some patches appearing pristine and other complet Phragmites australis stands. Private property is being heavily encroached by shrubs and turning the high quality fen into a patchwork of degraded/healthy fen. Fire managed sedge meadow; Carex tetanica, Sporobolus heterolepis, and Dasiphora fruticosa common; about 7m south of conifer/shrub line; many Frangula saplings despite burn (growing out of old root stocks).
