Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. 15m from edge of woodland and 15m northeast of stream; Juniperus and Acer rubrum to the south; Salix sp. To the north; Betula pumila, Frangula alnus, Dasiphora fruticosa and Physocarpus opulifolius in shrub layer; Carex buxbaumii and C. stricta common in herbaceous layer. Toxicodendron vernix fairly common as well. Ground moist but not inundated.
