Prairie fen with sedge meadow zone common throughout, wooded fen with many tamaracks (Larix laricina); lots of Frangula alnus. Very long, narrow fen. Split by the headwaters of the Grand River. East side owned by The Nature Conservancy, west side mostly privately owned. Grand River is too deep/silty to cross without use of footbridges. Many zones in fen. Periodic shurbby zones; invasives; Phalaris arundinacea common. Sedge meadow zone with scatter Larix laricina trees and saplings. Dasiphora fruticosa and Betula pumila well-represented in area; Sarracenia purpurea common as well as Cladium mariscoides. Overall a very healthy looking patch of fen.
