Fen curves around east and south portions of the lake. Many "No Trespassing" signs posted. Mostly herbaceous Cyperaceae with shrubs on borders. Actively maintained by The Nature Conservancy. Fay Lake Road borders on east and south side fo fen. 5m north of two-track, upraised road (where a Blanding's turtle was laying eggs), east 100m from Ruble/two-track intersection. Asteraceae dominate area, but plenty of Carex. There is a slight ditch or drop off on either side of quadrat. Standing water present. Shrub layer is mostly Cornus and red cedar (Juniper).
Population - 1-3 individuals per 1m2 area for 30m2, found on wet soil near asters, marsh ferns, Carex, and Equisetum, clumped.
