Weedy, grazed, somewhat scrubby ridgetop and NW-facing sandstone bluffs. Scattered pinyon and juniper; gambel oak and serviceberry common. Rocky, sandy, frequently barren soil. Common on bluffs.

Prostrate shrub to 0.2 m high. Original ID as Paxistima myrsinites subsp. myrsinites. Latitude and longitude determined from topographical map.
