Habitat: Locally frequent with various Bouteloua species in grassland portion of open juniper-oak woodland on nearly level upland in valley between mostly forested rhyolite slopes. Associates include Aristida ternipes, Bothriochloa barbinodis, Bouteloua curtipendula, B. eriopoda, B. hirsuta, Cirsium ochrocentrum, Cyperus fendlerianus, Eragrostis erosa, Evolvulus sericeus, Hilaria swallenii, Juniperus deppeana, Leptochloa dubia, Leptochloa dubia, Lycurus setosus, Mimosa aculeaticarpa, Panicum hallii, Pinus remota, Quercus emoryi, Q. grisea, Schizachyrium sp., Setaria scheelei, Sida neomexicana.
Reproductive Condition: sterile
