A railroad (currently used andmaintained), runs almost the entire length. Within 20m on either side of the tracks is almost all herbaceous (weedy but diverse). Further from tracks there are many tamarack trees and shrubs including some autumn olive. 50m east of railroad in area dominated by Asteraceae and Cyperaceae with a shrub layer of Toxicodendron vernix, Salix, Cornus, and alder. Wet ground but no puddling.
Population - small sapling, 2.5-3m tall, no cones yet, one 30m tall is 15m southwest, associated with Toxicodendron vernix, Cornus, and alder.
