Locality: United States, Mississippi, Harrison, Gulf Islands National Seashore, West Ship Island: Typha marsh east of boardwalk and southeast of Ft. Massachusetts greatly damaged from over wash from Hurricane Katrina.

Habitat: Damaged marsh. Soil Characteristics: Handsboro Association (Ha) - very poorly drained, well decomposed, organic soil on broad, wet, grassy flats along the coast, adjoining salt water or brackish water at elevations less than two feet. Associate plant species: Batis maritima, Rumex obovatus, Oenothera humifusa, Setaria parviflora, Typha domingensis, Cyperus odoratus. Uncommon; specimen collected was a pistillate plant.
