Habitat: Steep E-facing, rocky gully between rock outcrops dominated by graminoids. Fairly thick needle litter in lower gully and more mesic higher in gully. Coarse granitic soil. Tree CC 10-20%. Assoc spp: Pinus ponderosa, Populus tremuloides, Carex sprengelii, Prunus virginiana, Dryopteris filix-mas.
