Locality: USA, California, San Diego County, Mountain Springs Grade, 6 mi ENE of Jacuma, 0.23 mi W of Imperial County line, along Interstate 8, 0.74 mi S of Devil's Canyon, third drainage from Mountain Springs exit, over fence and up drainage towards the Cottonwood tree.

Habitat: Chaparral/riparian. Geology: Granitic gravel and rocky outcroppings on sides of wash.
Associated Species: Tamarix, Baccharis sarothroides, Baccharis sergiloides, Prosopis glandulosa, Prunus fremontii, Jojoba chinensis, Salvia apiana, Cyperus sp., Rumex., Ephedra sp., Nolina bigelovii.
Description: Locally common perennial shrub near wash or in wash, stems erect, flowers pale lavender.
