Growing from crack under overhang on cliff face ca. 10 meters NW. of creek. Locality is very well shaded but relatively dry. Slope about 110°; facing east. Boundary between Great Basin Desertscrub and Riparian Woodland.
Soil deposits in the crack are very shallow, show a heterogeneous mixture of particle sizes, and have derived in situ from local gneiss and organic detritus.
Ribes, Rosa, Populus, Salix, Artemisia
Sori were poorly developed on the green fronds at this early date, but material from the previous year supports the identification.
