Habitat: On floodplain from river edge into Populus fremontii grove on adjacent flats; with Salix exigua thicket bordering river with Rhus trilobata, Forestiera pubescens, Artemisia tridentata; rhizomatous perennial just beginning to bloom;mutiple stems to 2 ft. tall, branched above; flowers deep pink; abundant and widespread in riparian zone.
Substrate: Quaternary alluvial fill derived from Cutler Formation
Associated Species: Populus fremontii, Salix exigua, Rhus trilobata, Forestiera pubescens, Artemisia tridentata
