Habitat: Spring-fed canyon in pinyon-juniper-oak woodland.
Associated Species: Pinus discolor, Juniperus deppeana, Quercus oblongifolia, Rhus virens, Amorpha fruticosa, Arctostaphylos pungens, Dasylirion wheeleri, Agave palmeri, Guardiola platyphylla, Muhlenbergia emersleyi, Echinocereus santaritensis, Nolina microcarpa, Muhlenbergia rigens, Heteropogon contortus, Aristida schiedeana var. orcuttiana, Trachypogon spicatus, Carex ultra.
Description: Rhizomatous perennial graminoid, 90 cm, locally abundant; inflorescence appearing lateral due to erect bract.
Notes: Duplicates to ARIZ, ASC, USON.
