Mostly open prairie fen with strong prairie component. Bisected by Little Goose Creek. Some large swaths of Frangula alnus being treated by Michigan Nature Association. Weedy areas develop further downstream where fen narrows. Highly variable in regards to health of fen with some patches appearing pristine and other complet Phragmites australis stands. Private property is being heavily encroached by shrubs and turning the high quality fen into a patchwork of degraded/healthy fen. Alternate point due to non-prairie fen. About 25m west of Juniperus line; sedge meadow zone; ground dry for prairie fen, but Dasiphora fruticosa and Solidago ohioensis present; area has been burned (hummocks destroyed).
Flowers -female flowers highly reduced with mostly feathery stigmas; male flowers with petal and 3 stamens.Well-represented in area; about 2-3 per sq. m for 100 sq. m; many in flower (male and female plants); some plants just basal leaves though.
