In open Pinus edulis-Sabina osteosperma community near ridge summit on broad flat area overlooking deep canyon leading to Wingate cliffs above; with Astragalus desperatus var. neeseae, Gilia opthalamoides, Stipa neomexicana. locally common. Quaternary wind deposited sand and silt.

Mounding, shrubby-based ascending to erect, densely clumped stems; foliage glandular sticky, scabrous; heads discoid, corolla pale yellow; 7.5' Gateway quad.
