Habitat: In silt and gravel on bars in bed of nearly perennial stream draining rolling prairie landscape underlain by Cretaceous limestone. Associates include Agalinis heterophylla, Ambrosia trifida, Ammannia coccinea, Amorpha fruticosa, Andropogon glomeratus, Aster subulatus, Aster texanus, Baccharis neglecta, Conoclinium coelestinum, Cornus drummondii, Cyperus odoratus, Echinochloa sp., Fuirena simplex, Iva angustifolia, I. annua, Leersia oryzoides, Mitreola petiolata, Panicum virgatum, Pluchea odorata, Rorippa nasturtium-aquaticum, Salix nigra, Solidago altissima, Strophostyles helvola, Tridens albescens, Xanthium strumarium.
