Habitat: Occasional in openings in medium- to tall-stature shrubland on soils mapped as deep, well drained, moderately alkaline fine sandy loam Argiustolls (Willacy Series) on level upland underlain by eolian materials. Associates include Abutilon berlandieri, Aloysia gratissima, Aristida sp., Cenchrus spinifex, Croton capitatus, C. glandulosus, Diospyros texana, Eragrostis secundiflora, Eupatorium odoratum, Serjania brachycarpa, Cardiospermum corindum, Herissantia crispa, Karwinskia humboldtiana, Lantana urticoides, Leucophyllum frutescens, Paspalum setaceum, Phaulothamnus spinescens, Verbesina microptera, Zanthoxylum fagara.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
