Distributed in South Texas, an erect, much branched annual herb in open ground or edge of woodland on alluvial soil. Flowers axillary from upper leaves, yellow, odorless; leaves oblong, variable in size and shape, thin. Fruit a globose berry, bark pale green, roots fibrous. Occasional in the vicinity of Brownsville.
